Note: The Town does not allow use of power tools (including electric tools) - e.g., no gas or electric leaf blowers, weed whackers or chain saws.
All seasons:
Do a walk through of the Course (can do while playing) - e.g., the day after a storm and (1) pick up trash, (2) remove sticks/branches or newly fallen trees from fairways (add to existing piles or throw deep into woods; DO NOT remove logs that might have been intentionally placed/left as erosion control), and (3) report any damage to the Course (e.g., to baskets, wooden walkways or bridge) to FOWDG.
Remove rocks and roots from dirt tees (fill in any holes created, level and pack down). Recommended tools: pick axe
Cut down/remove thorny plants (e.g., barberry, wineberry, mutliflora rose, greenbriar) from rough (pull out or cut down as close as possible to ground; dump cuttings away from fairway and rough). Clear drainage ditches of dirt and debris. As of Sep 2023, there are drainage ditches at the top of the ramp leading from Lapham Rd down to the Course, blue tee of 3, white tee of 5, blue and white tees of 6, path between 6 and 7, blue and white tees of 7, fairway of 7, path between blue and white tees of 8, blue tee of 11, fairway of 12, blue tee of 14, blue tee of 17, path between 17 and 18, and white tee of 18.
Remove stumps in fairway or them cut down closer to ground level. Recommended tools: pick axe (for removal) or bow sow (to cut them lower).
Spring/summer/early fall (April-September):
Weed whack all tall (>6") weeds/grass on fairways. DO NOT whack ferns - e.g. on fairway of 18. Areas that regularly need weed/grass whacking include the fairways of holes 1, 7, 8, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18. Rake leaves from tees (do not rake leaves from basket areas, paths or fairways)
