WAVENY DISC GOLF
Course History
2007-2019
The Course was originally designed as a 12-hole course, which opened for play in 2007. The original layout remained essentially unchanged until 2020. Of the original holes, only holes 1, 5, 7,10, 11 and 12 have not since been either replaced or substantially changed. One notable drawback of the original design was that, after playing the last hole, getting back to the parking lot across from the entrance to the Course required a somewhat long walk on Lapham Road.
2020-2022
The Course was expanded to 18 holes in 2020 by (1) adding new holes 3 and 4, (2) adding new holes 10 and 11, (3) redesigning old hole 8 to create new hole 12, and (4) adding new holes 17 and 18. No significant hole changes were then made until the fall of 2022. During this period, boardwalks were installed between holes 16 and 17 and a large bridge added between holes 10 and 11.
2022-2023
In the fall of 2022, old holes 2 and 5 were replaced by new holes 2 and 5, and holes 3 and 4 were slightly lengthened. In the spring of 2023, the paths from 11 to 12 and 17 to 18 were moved so that they no longer crossed other holes. In addition during 2022-2023, drainage ditches were added to several holes (e.g., holes 7 and 12), large logs that were in the center of the fairway of 12 were moved to the side, the rough was expanded and cleaned out on many holes, and separate white and red tees were added to every hole that previously lacked them.
Jan - Aug 2024
In January 2024, hole 13 was replaced by new hole 13 and, in April 2024, hole 11 was replaced by new hole 11.
Aug 2024 - Present
In August 2024, hole 6 (now hole 5) was extended and made into a par 4. In November 2024, holes 3, 4 and 8 were replaced by new holes 2, 6 and 16, the flow of the course was changed, and all the remaining holes except holes 1 and 18 were renumbered. Also during this time period, turf tee pads started to be installed on the blue tees.
